Geocache & Travel Bug Progress

In October 2005, Washington County 4-H placed a geocache box to help teach the fun and learning aspects of global positioning systems (GPS). In January 2006, we sent a travel bug on its way to accomplish a mission across the nation. Check here often to see their progress and to learn more about GPS.

Geocache Box

Through the funding and training of the Nebraska 4-H Foundation, the county 4-H program placed a geocache box to compliment the new Nebraska 4-H GPS curiculum that is coming out in 2006. The cache box is pictured below.

Travel Bug

In January of 2006, Washington County 4-H sent a "travel bug" on its way to achieve a mission. Through the help of the many geocachers out there, it will leap frog across the nation and back. The picture below shows the travel bug (a specially numbered dog tag) attached to a Nebraska 4-H medal.
